Fans of Fixer to Fabulous have watched Jenny and Dave Marrs renovate homes, grow their businesses and raise their five children in Arkansas. But when Season 8 arrives, longtime viewers should expect one noticeable change: the Marrs kids won’t be appearing nearly as much.
The reason isn’t family drama or a major change imposed by HGTV. According to Jenny, some of their children are simply getting older and have decided they no longer want cameras following them as often. And she and Dave have no intention of forcing the issue.
Who Are Jenny and Dave Marrs?
Jenny and Dave Marrs are the husband-and-wife renovation team behind HGTV’s Fixer to Fabulous, which premiered in 2019.
Based around Bentonville, Arkansas, the series follows Jenny’s design work and Dave’s construction and woodworking expertise as they restore aging homes for local families. Their success has also led to spinoffs including Fixer to Fabulous: Welcome Inn and Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano.
Away from renovations, Jenny and Dave are parents to five children: twin sons Nathan and Ben, daughters Sylvie and Charlotte, and youngest son Luke.
Family life has always helped give Fixer to Fabulous its personal feel—but maintaining that openness has become more complicated as the kids grow up.
Why the Marrs Kids Are Stepping Away From Cameras
Jenny explained that the household now includes three teenagers, a preteen and 7-year-old Luke.
While the children grew up with production crews around them, some of the older kids have reached a point where they simply don’t want to participate as much anymore.
Jenny said viewers therefore “won’t see as much of the kids” during Season 8. She added that Luke and Charlotte are still more comfortable appearing, while the older children have increasingly chosen to stay off-camera.
Most importantly, Jenny and Dave are respecting that choice.
Jenny made it clear that they would never force one of their children to participate simply because filming is happening at the house.
Filming Inside Their Real Home Has Become Complicated
The change also comes as Jenny and Dave acknowledge another challenge: Fixer to Fabulous regularly films inside their actual family home.
Jenny admitted that having television production blend into everyday home life can be frustrating because there is little separation between work and family.
Unlike stars who may use a dedicated filming property, the Marrses’ historic Arkansas farmhouse is genuinely where they live. Dave noted that production can’t always isolate one small section of the house while the rest of the family continues normally.
That can mean children returning from school to find cameras and production equipment throughout their home.
Jenny admitted she sometimes wishes they had kept their house separate from the television show, but she also understands that allowing viewers into their real lives helped make the series feel authentic.
Fixer to Fabulous Season 8 Is Moving Forward
The family change doesn’t mean Fixer to Fabulous itself is slowing down.
Season 8 is currently in production, with Jenny and Dave already teasing several ambitious renovations.
Among them is the conversion of an airplane hangar into a home for Dave’s brother and sister-in-law. Another project, which the couple says has been roughly two years in the making, involves raising a building in a creek bed and creating a new foundation for a future coffee shop. Fan-favorite carpenter Joe Looney is also expected to return.
HGTV has also been casting homeowners for another season of the renovation series, underscoring that the Marrses remain an important part of the network’s lineup.
A Different Kind of Family Chapter
For years, viewers have watched the Marrs children grow up alongside their parents’ television careers. Now, some of them are old enough to decide how much of that life they want to share publicly.
Season 8 may feature fewer family cameos, but the reason is straightforward: Jenny and Dave are giving their children greater control over their own privacy.
For a show built around real homes and real families, that may be one of the most authentic changes Fixer to Fabulous has made yet.
