Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas have another major reason to celebrate—and this milestone comes during what could be an exciting new chapter for the former HGTV stars.
On Thursday, July 23, Bynum marked 13 years with Thomas by sharing an affectionate anniversary tribute on Instagram. The Detroit-based designer described their time together as “13 lucky years” and made it clear that his love for Thomas has only continued to grow.
“Another wonderful year together,” Bynum wrote. “And everyday I continue to love you more. I can’t wait to see what this new year holds.”
Thomas responded to the heartfelt message with two red heart emojis.
Bynum’s anniversary post included a collection of photographs capturing the many sides of their relationship. Some showed the couple working together on a renovation project, while others featured them travelling through a mountainous location, enjoying dinner at a restaurant and relaxing together at home.
Rather than presenting only polished red-carpet moments, the photographs reflected the life Bynum and Thomas have built through years of shared adventures, demanding renovation projects and major career changes.
The couple first connected through Match.com in 2013 while they were both living in Colorado. Their relationship eventually became a personal and professional partnership, with Thomas joining Bynum as they built their design and renovation business.
Bynum and Thomas became engaged in 2017, although their busy schedules repeatedly delayed their wedding plans. When celebrating the fifth anniversary of their engagement in 2022, Bynum joked that they had been “too damn busy” to officially get married, before adding that it would happen “one day.”
Their lives became even busier after they found television success with Bargain Block. The HGTV series followed Bynum and Thomas as they purchased neglected and abandoned Detroit properties before transforming them into colourful, affordable homes. Real estate agent Shea Hicks-Whitfield also played an important role in helping the pair find buyers for their finished projects.
The series ran for five seasons and developed a loyal following, making its cancellation particularly disappointing for both the stars and their viewers.
Bynum and Thomas publicly announced the cancellation in June 2025, although they later revealed that HGTV had informed them of the decision several months earlier, in February.
The unexpected news forced them to reconsider the direction of their company, NINE Design + Homes, and determine what their careers would look like without the programme. Bynum later admitted that keeping the cancellation private for months had been emotionally difficult.
When he finally shared the news publicly, Bynum said the announcement allowed him to release some of the frustration and anger he had been carrying since receiving the call from the network.
However, the end of Bargain Block may not be the end of Bynum and Thomas’ television journey.
In April, Bynum posted a video documenting the process of painting an elaborate mural for a homeowner. The project quickly attracted comments from viewers who said the couple deserved another programme.
After one fan insisted that Bynum and Thomas “need” a new show, Bynum offered a brief but intriguing response: “Y’all might just get your wish.”
He did not reveal a title, network or possible release date, but the comment was enough to give disappointed Bargain Block fans renewed hope.
That possibility makes Bynum’s anniversary message feel especially meaningful. After navigating the cancellation of their successful series, restructuring their business and facing an uncertain professional future, the couple are moving forward together.
Whether their next chapter includes a new television project, more ambitious Detroit renovations or finally finding time to plan their long-delayed wedding, Bynum appears optimistic about what lies ahead.
