100 Day Dream Home follows married real estate professionals Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt as they help Florida homeowners create personalized houses and complete major renovations within an ambitious timeline.
Mika generally leads the real estate, planning and design portions of each project. She works closely with clients to understand their lifestyles, preferred colors, practical needs and dream-home wish lists. Brian oversees construction, manages crews and attempts to keep each complicated build moving toward completion.
The show’s appeal comes from more than impressive before-and-after reveals. Viewers also see unexpected construction problems, budget pressure, conflicting design opinions and the natural chemistry between Brian and Mika. HGTV describes the basic premise simply: the couple helps clients build their dream homes in approximately 100 days.
Since debuting in 2020, the series has helped turn Brian and Mika into two of HGTV’s most recognizable personalities. They have subsequently appeared in projects including Rock the Block, Home Town Kickstart, Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge and House Hunters: All Stars. When Did the Latest Season Begin?
The latest run, listed by HGTV as Season 7, began on September 16, 2025, with an episode titled “Room for Mom.” That project involved creating an addition so a homeowner’s mother could move into the property. The construction itself was only part of the challenge, as the family disagreed over whether the new space should feature neutral white finishes or bolder colors.
Season 7 expanded beyond straightforward custom-home construction. The season’s broadcast was unusually spread out. Its first nine episodes aired between September and November 2025, while additional installments appeared during 2026. HGTV’s official episode page currently identifies 12 Season 7 episodes, concluding its listed lineup with “Can’t Contain Myself,” in which Brian and Mika attempt their first container-home build.
Because the available Season 7 projects are reaching the end of that lineup, viewers are naturally looking for news about what comes next.
Mika Kleinschmidt Reveals New Project Off-Screen
While the future of the HGTV series remains unannounced, Mika is taking on a completely different kind of challenge.
She will appear in Eight O’Clock Theatre’s production of the acclaimed musical Come From Away, running from September 4 through September 13, 2026. Mika has been cast as Hannah and several additional characters, marking a return to her live-performance roots.
Mika announced the project in June and expressed her excitement about performing onstage again. On July 17, she gave followers a closer look at the process by sharing photographs from the rehearsal room. The images showed cast members studying the script, working through musical numbers and preparing to tell the production’s deeply emotional story.
For viewers accustomed to seeing Mika choose flooring, evaluate layouts and help nervous homeowners make design decisions, the project reveals another side of her creativity. Live theater requires a different kind of preparation: memorizing dialogue and music, developing multiple characters, rehearsing alongside an ensemble and delivering the story in real time before an audience.
Come From Away is inspired by events in Gander, Newfoundland, following the September 11, 2001 attacks. Thirty-eight planes carrying thousands of passengers were diverted to the Canadian community. Local residents opened their homes and public spaces to stranded travelers, overcoming language differences and uncertainty through compassion, food, music and practical support.
The production explores grief and fear, but its larger message focuses on human connection and the extraordinary things ordinary people can accomplish during a crisis. The show was nominated for both Tony and Grammy awards, and Eight O’Clock Theatre describes it as a story about the enduring power of community.
Mika’s character, Hannah, is among the travelers attempting to contact loved ones while dealing with the uncertainty surrounding the attacks. Like other members of the ensemble, Mika will also portray additional people throughout the musical.
Her rehearsal update received an enthusiastic response from followers, many of whom praised the production and expressed confidence that Mika would bring warmth and emotional depth to the role.
Importantly, this is Mika’s individual project. Brian has not been announced as part of the stage production, and there is no indication that the musical is being filmed for HGTV.
Does the Theater Project Mean the Show Is Over?
Not necessarily.
Television personalities frequently pursue stage appearances, business ventures and guest roles between production schedules. The relatively short September run of Come From Away would not prevent Mika from filming another television season later in the year or afterward.
Brian and Mika also remain involved with HGTV. They are scheduled to appear as guest judges on the network’s retro renovation competition Totally ’90s House, demonstrating that their relationship with HGTV remains active. The series is scheduled to premiere on August 26, 2026.
Mika also recently served as a mentor during Season 5 of Battle on the Beach, guiding renovators Josiah and Anna Julian through the transformation of a vacation property. Although Team Mika did not win the final competition, her involvement gave her another prominent role outside her flagship series.
What Is Happening With Season 8?
At present, the most accurate answer is that 100 Day Dream Home has not officially been canceled, but Season 8 has not officially been announced either.
HGTV’s own page continues to present the program as an active show and lists Seasons 1 through 7. It does not currently provide a Season 8 premiere date, production announcement or episode order.
Some third-party television listings have labeled “Can’t Contain Myself” as a Season 8 installment. However, HGTV identifies that same container-home episode as Season 7, Episode 12. That discrepancy appears to be a cataloging issue and should not be treated as proof of a renewal.
For now, fans should view Mika’s theatrical role as an exciting creative detour—not a farewell to HGTV. Until the network or the Kleinschmidts release a formal statement, the future of Season 8 remains undecided publicly rather than canceled.
