Why was Valerie Bertinelli fired from Food Net Work?

Valerie Bertinelli has garnered backing from Khloé Kardashian following her candid revelation about not being invited back to host the Kids Baking Championship on the Food Network. The reality TV star, who is an avid fan of the baking competition, expressed her readiness to support a petition aimed at reinstating Bertinelli for upcoming seasons of the show.

“Wait!!! What!!!!! I must sign that petition. I adore this show and watch it religiously. I even record it and everything,” Kardashian expressed in the Instagram comments. “I love the dynamic between you and Duff, and it’s challenging to envision the show without you. The way you connect with the children is truly magical. Your guidance and advice to them are crucial.”

Continuing, Kardashian added, “Duff’s voice is valuable too, but I believe they need both of you… I’m genuinely sorry! This situation is disappointing, and I completely understand why your feelings are hurt.”

Kardashian’s response came after watching a video shared by Bertinelli on Instagram, where she expressed how deeply it affected her that she wasn’t invited back to host the Food Network’s Kids Baking Championship, a role she has shared with Duff Goldman since 2015.

In the video, Bertinelli candidly admitted, “It really hurt my feelings to know that I’m not going to be asked back to be on Kids Baking Championship. I know it’s not supposed to. Logically, I know it’s business [and] budget cuts, right? But it really hurt my feelings.”

Bertinelli, who is currently featured in episodes filmed in 2022 during her divorce, shared her disappointment, saying, “It really hurts that I won’t be able to go back and see everybody and say, ‘Hey, I made it through!’ I think I’m [the] most sad that I won’t be able to tell everybody what they mean to me.”

Later, on X (formerly Twitter), Bertinelli revealed that she “was basically ghosted” by the producers. She wrote, “There were never any talks, so no talks could be stalled. I got an inkling I might not be asked back when I saw I was not in the holiday specials. I got a text by a third party on Friday that told me I would not be back. LOL I was basically ghosted.”

In a subsequent post, she clarified, “I have zero ill will toward anyone at FN. I enjoyed every single moment I worked for them, and they are all lovely, kind, hard-working people. And I understand business is business. But I won’t tolerate lies. I am a lot of things, but I am not greedy, nor am I a liar.”

  1. I am so so sad. The show will not be the same for me . I really love Duff and Valeria on the show together, they make it great. You can really tell they love what they do and they love the kids . I think they make the kids feel special. Maybe Valeria and Duff can start another show of their own for kids to cook on. I know I would watch it. Valeria is a fighter and a survivor and she could do it.
