Aaron and Jennifer Toland
In 2016, Aron and Jennifer Toland embarked on an audacious journey when they decided to disconnect from the grid. Their adventure led them to purchase an abandoned fishing lodge nestled on the shores of Eliguk Lake, deep within the rugged wilderness of British Columbia. The property, neglected and engulfed by overgrowth, stood as a testament to the immense amount of work required to transform it into a habitable homestead and operational lodge.
Six years of relentless toil and dedication later, Aron and Jennifer have successfully breathed new life into their enterprise, making it a thriving business.
Yet, as the last guest departs at the close of the summer fishing season, the Tolands find themselves facing the unforgiving challenges of enduring the harsh winter, miles away from civilization. Their daily existence in this remote wilderness is a perpetual test of their resilience, and ongoing enhancements to their homestead and lodge remain a constant demand.
Aron, previously an off-road mechanic, and Jennifer, a seasoned search and rescue medic, have eagerly embraced this lifestyle as a long-held aspiration. They look forward to tackling several ambitious new projects at Eliguk Lake in the coming season, determined to make the most of their chosen path in the heart of the untamed wilderness. Aaron Toland is 54 years old as of 2024, while his wife Jennifer is 7 years younger, which makes her 47 years old.
Tom is my favorite Mountain Man. I like them all except for Eustice. Basically he seems very lazy and uses people. Annoying to watch him.
Don’t think he is lazy at all he uses primitive tools to do his work and does it quite well with what he has to work with. Makes some beautiful Furniture he sells to make money! He’s not lazy at all
