Meghan Ory Discloses Pregnancy Struggles During ‘Chesapeake Shores’ Final Season Filming

  • by

Meghan Ory, the 39-year-old Hallmark star, recently revealed the challenges she faced while filming the final season of Chesapeake Shores. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Ory shared that she was pregnant with her second child during the production of season 6 and was grappling with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) at the time.

Hyperemesis gravidarum is a condition characterized by severe nausea and vomiting, significantly impacting a woman’s ability to eat or drink and often resulting in substantial weight loss. Ory’s post explained that this challenging condition, affecting up to 2 percent of pregnant women, accompanied her throughout the filming process. HG can manifest as early as five weeks into pregnancy and persist for weeks or even months, a plight experienced by notable figures like Kate Middleton and Amy Schumer.

In her Instagram post, Ory expressed gratitude for the support and patience of the Chesapeake Shores cast and crew during her trying times. Despite dealing with the physical toll of HG, she successfully completed the filming of the beloved series. Ory also acknowledged the additional obstacle she faced, revealing that she ended the season with a battle against COVID-19. In her post, she extended heartfelt thanks to her husband, John Reardon, for being her unwavering support and rock during this challenging period.

This candid revelation sheds light on the resilience and determination displayed by Meghan Ory while navigating the demanding aspects of both pregnancy and the filming of Chesapeake Shores’ final season.

Meghan Ory extended heartfelt gratitude in her Instagram post, acknowledging her incredible husband, @johnny_reardon_, for his unwavering support and resilience in managing the challenges they faced. She also expressed deep appreciation for the invaluable assistance provided by not just one, but two Nannies, recognizing the essential role they played in the midst of her parents’ busy schedules, both being involved in television shows. Ory emphasized the collective effort involved in navigating the complexities of life, using the hashtag #ittakesavillage.

The actress subtly hinted at her challenging condition back in May with a candid Instagram post, where she humorously mentioned “acting like I’m not going to barf” while on set. This post provided a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes reality of her struggle with hyperemesis gravidarum during the filming of Chesapeake Shores’ final season.

Chesapeake Shores, which premiered on the Hallmark Channel in 2016, is based on Sherryl Woods’ book series and revolves around the lives of the O’Brien family. The storyline unfolds as eldest daughter Abby, portrayed by Meghan Ory, returns home, offering viewers a captivating portrayal of the trials and tribulations of four generations of the O’Brien family. As Meghan bids farewell to the series with the conclusion of its sixth season, she hopes that the audience enjoys the culmination of this beloved show’s journey.
