HGTV cancels 3 Popular Shows an Renews 10 others.

With less than two months remaining in 2024, HGTV executives have finalized major decisions about which shows will return in 2025 and which ones won’t make the cut.

Some of the network’s top stars, such as Jenny Marrs and Egypt Sherrod, are already in the process of filming new seasons. Meanwhile, other hosts are still awaiting news on the future of their shows, and some already know they won’t be returning.

9 HGTV Shows Scheduled to Return in 2025

In September, Deadline announced that the sixth season of Rock the Block is set to premiere in early 2025, with Ty Pennington returning as host.

The six-week competition, filmed outside Salt Lake City during the fall of 2024, will feature four teams of HGTV stars renovating nearly identical homes from top to bottom.

The lineup includes Alison Victoria from Windy City Rehab and Michel Smith Boyd of Luxe for Less; Jonathan Knight from Farmhouse Fixer and his brother Jordan Knight, who recently appeared on the Camp Revamp spinoff; Chelsea and Cole DeBoer from Down Home Fab; and Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama of Renovation Aloha.

“Renovation Aloha”

Alongside their appearance on Rock the Block season 6, the Kalamas are set to return for a second season of their popular show, Renovation Aloha, which was a major success for HGTV in spring 2024.

The couple shared their excitement in an Instagram video posted in April. According to a press release, HGTV approved a new 10-episode season after the first season drew in over 13.9 million viewers. HGTV has not yet announced a premiere date.

“Down Home Fab”

In July, Down Home Fab stars Chelsea and Cole DeBoer received the go-ahead from HGTV for a third season of their renovation series, filmed in South Dakota.

The network shared an Instagram reel capturing the moment the couple found out about the renewal, with Chelsea breaking down in tears at the news. A premiere date has not yet been announced by HGTV.

“Back in action filming the show,” he wrote. “It’s hot, but we’re working on some really cool projects! 😂 Can’t wait to share them with you when season 6 airs!”

“Ugliest House in America”

In June, comedic actress Retta, host of Ugliest House in America, announced on Instagram that a sixth season of the show was “in the works!”

This news came alongside her completion of filming Scariest House in America, a new spinoff that aired in October.

While HGTV has not yet announced a premiere date for season 6, the series has traditionally launched the network’s January lineup for the past two years.

“Fix My Frankenhouse”

After a long wait, HGTV’s Fix My Frankenhouse is set to return in 2025. The show, featuring married Boston couple Denese and Mike Butler, debuted with a six-episode first season in April 2023.

“The Flipping El Moussas”

Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa are set to return for a second season of The Flipping El Moussas, where they team up to flip homes in California.

The couple has spent much of the year filming the new season, though an official premiere date has yet to be announced. In a February interview with Heavy, Tarek shared his excitement, stating that the upcoming season will surpass the first.

“Season one was our first year flipping houses together and our first time filming together,” Tarek explained. “It was a lot of firsts for us, right? But, as with anything, practice makes perfect, and now we’re really in a groove.”

In addition to their return, the El Moussas will star in a new show set for 2025, The Flip-Off, alongside Tarek’s first wife and fellow HGTV star, Christina Hall.

“Home Town”

Fans of Erin and Ben Napier have much to look forward to in 2025. While HGTV has yet to announce an official premiere date, the Napiers have confirmed on Instagram that they’ve been filming the eighth season of Home Town in Laurel, Mississippi, which is expected to debut in 2025.

Additionally, the couple spent part of spring 2024 in Sebring, Florida, filming the third season of their spinoff, Home Town Takeover, wrapping up production in May.

Back in February, they shared on Instagram that the six-episode spinoff is set to premiere in early 2025.

Series Continuation: “Divided by Design”

Although not technically a show renewal, HGTV’s newest series, Divided by Design, is set to return in early 2025 with married co-stars Eilyn and Ray Jimenez.

The network unexpectedly pulled the show in September after airing several episodes and announced it would be going on hiatus.

In late October, Eilyn took to Instagram to update fans, saying, “A lot of you have been asking, and I’m happy to announce that the second half of Divided by Design will return in January 2025.

Expect more captivating designs and unexpected twists as the journey continues — stay tuned!”

3 HGTV Shows Won’t Be Returning in 2025

On October 30, People published an interview with Galey Alix, where she disclosed that her one-season show, Home in a Heartbeat with Galey Alix, would not be returning.

“Home in a Heartbeat with Galey Alix”

She explained that the demanding schedule—completing home renovations over a three-day weekend—was overwhelming, with her team sometimes staying awake for 86 hours straight to finish projects.

Alix told People, “It reached a point where I realized I wouldn’t survive a season 2.”

However, on November 1, Alix clarified in her Instagram Stories by sharing a screenshot of the article and writing, “To clarify, I didn’t personally choose to end the show,” adding, “If I choose to do another show, it will be a completely new and more sustainable concept.”

“Rico to the Rescue”

After leading two seasons of *Rico to the Rescue* in January 2023 and January 2024, star Rico León has informed his social media followers that he does not plan to return for another season.

When asked by a fan on Instagram in April if a third season was in the works, he responded, “haven’t decided yet.”

In an August 20 Instagram post, another fan posed the same question, to which Rico replied, “good question. Would take a lot lol.” When a different follower asked directly, “Is Rico to the Rescue coming back or not?” he confirmed with a simple, “nope.”

“Building Roots”

Almost a year after the second season of their show Building Roots premiered on HGTV, stars Ben and Cristi Dozier announced in early September that the series has come to an end.

In an Instagram post, the couple shared that they “won’t be producing any new seasons” and will instead focus on their renovation projects and entrepreneurial ventures in southern Colorado.
