According to sources, they are habituating the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which gained public attention when they were featured in a book by James Campbell entitled The Final Frontiersman: Heimo Korth and His Family, Alone in Alaska’s Arctic Wilderness in 2004. Before the annotation about them, they were documented in 1992 in the series Braving Alaska.

Many people were made aware of them through The Last Alaskans, which aired in 2015 on Discovery Channel.

Heimo and Edna Korth happily live in Alaska because their daughters frequently visit them. The family’s patriarch acknowledges Edna’s child, Millie Korth, who was from her previous marriage.

The first child in their marriage was named Coleen Korth, who was welcomed into this world on May 29, 1982. Sadly, the life of their firstborn was not that long because she succumbed to death when she turned two years old.

Following their late daughter are Krin and Rhona Korth, who has been very vocal about their support of their parents’ career.

The first lady of Heimo is still alive and kicking at 65 despite online rumors about her passing away. She is celebrated by their fans, especially children, because of her resilience in life. She was born on the 24th day of January in the year 1960.

Heimo Korth celebrated his 70th birthday with his family on the 17th day of April in 2025, having been born in 1955 in Wisconsin, USA. He is wildly adored for his stamina and strength to brave the wilderness of Alaska while raising his own family.

Heimo and Edna Korth are still living off-grid in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge along the Coleen River—hunting, fishing, trapping, and moving between their cabins as the seasons change. Now in their 70s, they continue their lifestyle of self-reliance, using tools like chainsaws, satellite phones, and snow machines, while staying true to a natural, non-industrial way of life.

Their family remains closely connected. Their daughter Krin and her boyfriend have moved into one of their cabins, effectively continuing the third generation of the Korths in the Arctic Refuge.

They also make occasional public appearances—such as greeting fans at outdoor expos and conventions.

A fan-run Facebook group recently confirmed that both Heimo and Edna are doing well. They remain beloved by viewers who continue to watch reruns of The Last Alaskans.
