Erin French is bringing the warmth and seasonal cooking of The Lost Kitchen into homes once again with a new cookbook.
The acclaimed Maine chef and bestselling author has revealed The Lost Kitchen Volume 3: Seize the Supper, the latest addition to her growing collection of books inspired by food, hospitality and life in Freedom, Maine.
French’s new cookbook was publicly announced by publisher Celadon Books on April 2, 2026. It is now available to preorder ahead of its official release later this year.

When Will Erin French’s New Book Be Released?
Seize the Supper will be released on October 13, 2026.
The 304-page hardcover is being published by Celadon Books, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers. Its hardcover ISBN is 978-1-250-36962-8, while a separate eBook edition will carry ISBN 978-1-250-36963-5.
The book is officially described as the third volume in The Lost Kitchen cookbook series, following French’s earlier recipe collections.
What Is Seize the Supper About?
The central idea behind Seize the Supper is simple: people should not wait for a perfect occasion to prepare a thoughtful meal and enjoy time around the table.
French draws inspiration from her home and restaurant, The Lost Kitchen, located in the small town of Freedom, Maine. The book presents complete seasonal meals that combine comforting main courses with bright salads, vegetable dishes and desserts.
The recipes are designed for different moments throughout the year, including late-afternoon autumn dinners, snowy evenings beside the fire and relaxed spring picnics.
Rather than asking home cooks to master complicated restaurant techniques, French focuses on approachable steps, seasonal nourishment and the experience of bringing people together. The food may look special, but the larger message is about slowing down, appreciating the present and creating meaningful memories over supper.
Several recipes have already been revealed. They include:
- Soft Polenta with Honey and Ricotta
- Roasted Asparagus with Tarragon Vinaigrette
- Pear, Walnut and Blue Cheese Waldorf
- Provençal Roasted Chicken
- Fried Halibut
- Buttermilk Leg of Lamb with Fennel and Orange
- Baked Vanilla Spice Puddings with Cherry Compote
- Rosemary Maple Ice Cream
The selection suggests that Seize the Supper will continue French’s signature approach: familiar ingredients, elegant combinations and food that feels comforting without being ordinary.

The official US list price for the hardcover edition is US$40.

Erin French’s Previous Books
Seize the Supper continues a publishing career that has included cookbooks as well as a deeply personal memoir.

The Lost Kitchen
Erin French released her first cookbook, The Lost Kitchen: Recipes and a Good Life Found in Freedom, Maine, in May 2017.
Organised around the seasons, the book introduced readers to the ingredients, landscapes and personal stories that influence French’s cooking. Its recipes include Whole-Roasted Trout with Parsnip and Herb Hash, Maine Shrimp Rolls, Ramp and Fiddlehead Fried Rice and Rhubarb Spoon Cake.
Finding Freedom
In April 2021, French published the memoir Finding Freedom: A Cook’s Story; Remaking a Life from Scratch.
Rather than functioning as a traditional cookbook, it tells the story behind French’s success. She writes about growing up in Maine, becoming a young mother, confronting addiction and personal loss, and rebuilding her life and culinary career in her hometown.
The memoir became an instant New York Times bestseller and gave readers a more personal understanding of the woman behind The Lost Kitchen.
Big Heart Little Stove
French returned to food and hospitality with Big Heart Little Stove, first released in October 2023 and later presented in a redesigned edition as The Lost Kitchen Volume 2.
The book contains more than 75 recipes, along with French’s ideas for making guests feel welcome. It includes dishes from her family recipe box and restaurant menu, as well as table-setting suggestions, presentation ideas and small hospitality gestures.
Recipes range from Pecorino Puffs and Golden Tomato and Peach Soup to Pickle-Brined Roast Chicken, Salted Caramel Custards and Roasted Peach Pie.
With Seize the Supper, French appears to be combining the strongest elements of her earlier work: seasonal Maine cooking, practical hospitality and the belief that sharing a meal can turn an ordinary day into something worth remembering.
