When discussing Dr. Jan’s personal life, it’s impossible not to mention Diane—the love of his life whom you’ve likely seen on the show.
Their journey together began in 1961 when they met during their senior year at Mayville High School where Diane was an exchange student from Michigan State University (MSU). The couple tied the knot in 1967 and have been inseparable ever since—over 50 years of marriage that only seems to deepen with time.
The Family They Built Together
Like many couples who have spent decades together, milestones mark their journey—and for the Pols, those milestones are their three children—all adopted.
Their daughter Diane Jr., named after her mother, was adopted at age 18 after being fostered by them for eight years prior; her adoption was finalized ten years later.
Their other two children—Charles and Kathy—were welcomed into the family right from birth through adoption.
While Kathy and Diane Jr., tend to stay out of the limelight even on their father’s show, Charles has taken quite a different path.
Charles became involved in “The Incredible Dr. Pol” at just five years old as his father’s assistant—a role that eventually led him to become one of its producers on National Geographic Channel today!
Despite growing up surrounded by farm animals under his father’s guidance—and even though he played an integral part in running things around there—it didn’t stop Charles from pursuing other interests too! He graduated from Miami University (Florida) back in ’03 before interning under Sydney Pollack afterward!

Born September 4th back ’42 within Dutch province known as Drenthe, this makes our beloved vet now aged seventy-nine!
Growing up amidst dairy farms across Netherlands meant young Jan had early exposure towards animal care which eventually led him studying Veterinary Medicine over Utrecht University whereupon graduating earned himself DVM degree before embarking upon career path chosen thereafter…
After marrying Diane, couple moved stateside settling initially within Harbor Beach area located inside Michigan state borders working alongside another local vet until deciding relocate once more towards Weidman region establishing own practice dubbed “Pol Veterinary Services” circa ’81 onwards…

So what else do we know regarding Mrs.Pol herself? Well apart being integral part behind successful veterinary practice run jointly alongside husband she also happens captain leading team representing said clinic during bowling tournaments held locally too!
Originally hailing originally Mayville town situated nearby same state where currently reside today having been born year following husband i.e.,1943 hence why perhaps chose settle down permanently here post-marriage days gone past…
Educationally speaking holds Bachelor Degree Education obtained via MSU followed later Master Special Reading field allowing teach elementary school level previously while residing earlier Harbor Beach locale prior moving onto current residence shared jointly beloved spouse till date!

Watching The Incredible Dr. Pol got me started on re-reading the James Herriot series.
Did you know that back in the 1930’s that the treatment for milk fever was inflation of the udder with a bicycle pump? Poor cow!
Once I got started watching the Incredible Dr. Pol I was hooked. I don’t miss many sessions. Love both him and most of their staff. Dr Brenda, Dr. Emily and a new one on as I type. Dr. Sandra. As well as Charles and Dr Pol’s wife, Diane. I cannot believe the amount of cows that have to have there cows be helped in deliverying their baby calves.
