Fixer to Fabulous Emmy Nomination! Competing against these 4 other Home Improvement Shows.

Fans adore HGTV shows, even though they often fly under the radar when it comes to awards. So, when not just one but two HGTV favorites snagged Emmy nominations on April 19th, it was a thrilling moment. But there are three other shows from other channel in the same category who will be competing against them.

The Television Academy unveiled the nominees for the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, scheduled to air on CBS on Friday, June 7th. Among the contenders in the Outstanding Instructional/How-To Program category were “Fixer to Fabulous,” hosted by Jenny and Dave Marrs, and another show on HGTV. Continue reading to know about all the shows that Dave and Jenny Marrs will be fighting against.

While the recognition would technically go to the shows’ producers if they win, both sets of hosts couldn’t contain their excitement. They took to Instagram to share their joy at being acknowledged.

HGTV Stars React to Their Emmy Nominations

Meanwhile, Jenny and Dave Marrs posted their own update on April 20, featuring a collection of behind-the-scenes snapshots and videos from their show’s journey. Their caption delved into the backstory, recounting the process of filming their sizzle reel, a pivotal step in pitching “Fixer to Fabulous” to the network for a full series.

Jenny expressed gratitude in their caption, acknowledging the nomination with humility, stating,

“We found out yesterday that our show was nominated for an Emmy award (🤯), and, while that is pretty cool, it’s mostly just a chance to celebrate our peeps.” She continued, emphasizing the importance of their dedicated team, both on and off-camera, in bringing the show to life. She concluded optimistically, “We’ll find out who wins the category in June but, in my mind, we already won. 🏆 🤍.”

Jenny Wrote an emotional post that reads,

Eight years ago, we welcomed two camera operators, a sound guy, a producer and a production assistant into our home and into our lives for two days. They essentially followed us around as we worked and then interviewed us as we sat on our front porch swing telling them about our family and the work we do renovating historic homes in our small town of Bentonville, Arkansas.

I remember watching the three-minute edited down “sizzle reel” that our production company, RIVR media, would send to HGTV and thinking, “this is absolutely crazy. Why would anyone want to watch a television show about our life?” I also remember being nervous that someone would want to watch a television show about our life. At the time, Charlotte was two, Sylvie was four and Ben and Nate were six. They were babies. Was it wise to open our family up to the inevitable criticism and loss of privacy that must come with a television show?

I prayed simply, “Lord, if this is what you want for us to do, if this will bring you glory, if we can use this opportunity to shine a light into this dark world, then let it happen. If this isn’t in your plans for us, if this is against your will, then slam the door shut.”

Thankfully, when the door stayed open, He brought us the best team of people to work alongside of every day. This team is truly like family and are some of the hardest working, biggest hearted, most caring people I’ve ever known.

We found out yesterday that our show was nominated for an Emmy award (🤯) and, while that is pretty cool, it’s mostly just a chance to celebrate our peeps. Fixer to Fabulous couldn’t happen without our small-but-mighty team behind the cameras, on the construction sites, and in the edit bay. We love that we get to do this and it’s fun to celebrate every now and then!

Fans flooded the comment sections with congratulatory messages for both nominated shows’ teams, expressing their excitement and appreciation for the dedication put into each episode.

Alison Victoria and 4 other shows are against Fixer to Fabulous

Victoria took to Instagram on April 19 to share her excitement about the nomination, exclaiming, “📣 📣 I did it! We did it! Now let’s go bring home that gold beauty 🌟,” in her caption.

Katie, a client from Victoria’s season 4, chimed in, playfully suggesting, “This is soooooo exciting!! Congratulations to the whole team!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 (I’m pretty sure it was our episode that pushed you over the top 🤣 🤣).”

Another user conveyed their admiration, writing, “Congratulations on your well-deserved nomination! Your show is one that I look forward to each week! What an incredible team you have. Thank you for the love you put into each episode. 😍”

“Fixer to Fabulous” and “Windy City Rehab” find themselves in competition not only with each other but also with three other contenders for the coveted Emmy.

Joining them in the race for the Emmy in the same category are Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Network reboot, “Fixer Upper: The Hotel,” Netflix’s “Hack My Home,” and the Roku channel’s “Martha Gardens,” featuring Martha Stewart.

Interestingly, “Martha Gardens” previously competed in the same category alongside another of the Gaines’ spinoffs, “Fixer Upper: The Castle,” last year. However, both shows fell short of clinching the award, losing out to Netflix’s “Instant Dream Home.”

With last year’s winner not in contention this time around, the stage is set for any of the five nominees to seize the victory.
