Charisma attended Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. When she was 15 years old, her family had to move from Vegas to Rosarito, a city in Mexico. They later shifted to San Diego. While in San Diego, she got admission in Bonita Vista High School and later also attended Chula Vista School of the Creative and Performing Arts.
While she was in San Diego, in 1991, she along with a couple of her friends were attacked by Henry Hubbard Junior, a serial rapist, and ex-police officer. Charisma and her friends managed to escape and later, her actions later proved significant in the trial against Hubbard and in convicting him.
She first entered the show business industry in 1994 by starring in an episode of Baywatch. Her breakthrough came in 1996 when she auditioned for the role of Buffy in the popular TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
