Few people are fortunate enough to make a living by pursuing their purpose. Ben and Erin Napier always knew that they wanted to do something significant in their hometown.
Thus, they rejected all their options to settle in Nashville, New York, and Memphis and came back to their hometown. The southerners are a passionate bunch. And today, they have successfully transformed their hometown of Laurel into something beautiful.
This article is dedicated to describing Ben and Erin Napier’s life before their TV fame. We have also thrown in some interesting facts, so let’s dive in.
Ben and Erin Napier: Life before TV fame
In 2005, the TV stars were studying at a University in Mississippi. Erin had a crush on the big guy, and her crush was returned tenfold when fate brought them together. A college project tied them for life.
Ben proposed to the lady after two years of their first meetup. And the next year, in 2008, they rang wedding bells. The duo initially thought about settling up somewhere else.
However, their love for their home town Mississippi dragged them back. Thus, they vowed that they would do everything in their power to transform the place for their children.
Ben had a future in the Church ministry. Erin was an excellent graphic designer. However, both of them quit their monotonous lives. They started remodeling houses.
This profession perfectly matched their objectives of making their hometown something magical. In 2014, they also started a local business, Laurel Mercantile Co.
Erin was active on Social media from her university days. However, her Instagram really blew up when a popular magazine ‘Southern Wedding’ featured their home.
The TV personality always had a dream home that she had her eyes on. She finally made it hers and renovated it into something magical. The 1925 craftsman cottage is their permanent home. And it is where the duo plans to raise their two lovely daughters, Helen and Mae.
How did they get into Home Town?
After their feature in the magazines, Erin was exposed to a wide audience. And fortunately, one of them was Lindsey Weidhorn.
Lindsey is an executive of HGTV, and she was really impressed by what the duo had to offer. Erin made all her posts on the hashtag #IliveinLaurel. This love and showcasing of their hometown, coupled up with their skill in the renovation, called up for a life-changing opportunity.
When Lindsey approached the duo, they thought she was there to buy stationery products. However, they were surprised to know that a mind-blowing offer was on the way.
After hearing the idea of the renovation TV show Home Town, the duo accepted the offer.
This not only provided them an opportunity to integrate their passion but also aligned with their initial goal of improving their hometown.
To date, the duo has remodeled hundreds of houses in Laurel.
