*Wheeler Dealers* star Mike Brewer has revealed details of a car crash that never made it to the show’s cameras.
Mike, 59, and co-host Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley, 47, are set to return with a new season of their popular car restoration show this month. Mike shared how an unfortunate incident occurred when Marc crashed the car he was driving – but the cameras missed it all.
“The only time the camera wasn’t rolling was when he drove through a motorway barrier,” Mike said. “It was the funniest thing that’s ever happened, and we didn’t catch it on film. I’m gutted about that – it was hilarious,” Mike told *The Sun*.
Mike Brewer and Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley’s car accident took place while filming the 27th series of *Wheeler Dealers*, during their epic six-month journey around the globe.
As part of their world tour, the Discovery series follows the duo as they explore various countries across Europe, North America, and Australia.
“We’re stepping into new experiences, often outside of our comfort zones, and when you roll the cameras in those moments, you capture real entertainment,” said Elvis, a former Formula One mechanic. “None of it is scripted or staged. It’s all genuine, and that’s what makes the show so special.”
This wasn’t the only mishap in the recent history of *Wheeler Dealers*. To celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary last year, Mike and Elvis restored a rare Ford Fiesta. However, the joy was short-lived when the car was stolen from the hotel parking lot shortly after its restoration.
“They parked a large lorry in front of the hotel’s security cameras, and for the next 25 minutes, they used cutters, angle grinders, and other tools to steal it,” Mike explained at the time. Despite the £11,000 restoration, the 1979 model has never been recovered.
The *Top Gear* rival, *Wheeler Dealers*, traditionally follows dealer Mike Brewer and mechanic Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley as they help car enthusiasts trade in their unwanted vehicles for the cars of their dreams.
Mike has been the face of *Wheeler Dealers* since its debut in 2003, while Elvis joined the team in 2020, taking over from Mike’s former co-host, Ant Anstead. Before Ant, Mike’s original co-host, mechanic Edd China, was a fan favorite until his departure in 2017 following an alleged disagreement about the show’s direction.
Reflecting on their final meeting, Mike shared some insights during an appearance on the *Road to Success* podcast. “The last time I saw Edd, we were in Paris together, getting drunk in a hotel room after I had just offered him a job,” Mike revealed.
“He was in need of money at the time, and I wasn’t, so I gave him the gig. People don’t know this part of the story. We had a drink, hugged it out, and that was the last time I saw him,” Mike claimed.
