Ty Pennington is mourning the loss of his beloved dog, Georgia.
On Monday, October 21, the 60-year-old HGTV star took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news that Georgia had passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 20.
“The world lost a special girl 💔,” Pennington wrote, sharing a collection of photos and videos that captured cherished moments with his longtime companion.
He added, “Georgia passed away unexpectedly at home in Florida yesterday. It was something we weren’t prepared for. Life has a cruel way of reminding us just how quickly it can all be taken away. We’ll miss you, Georgia.”
“We hope you get endless beach walks (and runs) and all the carrots in heaven,” Pennington concluded his post. “Say hi to Ed 💔#thegoodestgirl.”
The former Trading Spaces star also reminisced about a few special moments with his late dog. In the first photo, he and Georgia are seen lying side by side on the beach, with Georgia trying to lick his cheek.
The beach seemed to be a cherished spot for the pair, as Pennington also shared videos of them running along the shore and relaxing together in the beach grass.
In the final slide of his post, which he also shared on his Instagram Stories set to the song “Georgia on My Mind” by Ray Charles, Georgia is seen looking into the camera while resting on a couch.

In his Instagram Stories, Pennington posted a photo of Georgia alongside his dog, Dory, and added a heartfelt message: “Dory sure is going to miss her sweet friend 🥹💔,” he wrote.
Pennington, who also has a dog named Phoebe, held Georgia in the highest regard, even marking Father’s Day in 2019 with a special post on Facebook dedicated to her.
“Daddy’s Little Girl…,” he wrote, alongside hashtags like “#so #proud #happy #fathersday #wet #kisses #sweet #treats #howler #georgia #dogs #mansbestfriend.”
Over the years, Pennington shared several sweet moments with Georgia, including a playful photo of her sporting a pink wig and a blurry selfie where she eagerly tried to lick his face.
“Home is where the slobber is…,” he captioned the picture.
