In a recent Instagram video, Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson leaned into just three words — “we are back” — and it instantly set HGTV fans off. For weeks, the comment sections have read like a reunion watch party: Back where? Back when? Back for what? And after everything that happened last year, it wasn’t a random guess that viewers assumed the couple meant Married to Real Estate.

After all, Sherrod and Jackson weren’t just another renovation duo. When Married to Real Estate premiered in January 2022, the Atlanta-based power couple quickly became comfort-TV staples — she’s the real estate pro with the vision, he’s the builder who can actually make it happen. The show’s mix of smart buying, high-impact design and real-life marriage-and-parenting moments made it feel personal in a way a lot of house-flip TV doesn’t.
That’s why the cancellation hit so hard.

On June 24, 2025, the couple revealed HGTV had decided not to move forward after four seasons — news they said arrived as they were coming home from a family trip in the Mediterranean. The message was grateful, but the shock was obvious. Fans responded exactly how you’d expect: loud, emotional, and determined. Social media filled with pleas, and even petitions circulated calling on HGTV to rethink the wave of cancellations that included their show.
At the same time, Sherrod and Jackson were also forced to deal with something else: rumors. In one candid Instagram moment, they shut down claims that they’d been “asked back” — and even denied messy speculation about their marriage — telling followers not to believe anything unless it came directly from them.

So… back to that “we are back” tease.
The twist is actually a feel-good one: they weren’t teasing an HGTV return. They were talking about their “Marriage & Money” podcast. According to the couple, fans had been asking for it — and they were already filming new episodes, including video versions for their YouTube channel.
Their podcast, Marriage and Money Podcast with Egypt & Mike, is described as a weekly show built around funny real-life stories, “meaty” relationship dilemmas, and practical wealth-and-legacy talk — often with celebrity couples as guests. It’s available across major platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and it’s updated weekly.
And if you’re still hoping the TV chapter isn’t closed forever, Sherrod has also teased “stay tuned” when fans begged for Married to Real Estate to return in some form. For now, though, the couple’s “back” era looks like this: new podcast episodes, ongoing real estate/design work, and keeping the next screen move under wraps — until they’re ready to say it themselves.
