Single mum living ‘paycheck to paycheck’ wins $3 million on My Lottery Dream Home. Full Story

No lottery winner seemed more deserving than Christine, a 31-year-old single mother-of-two who also serves as a guardian to her special needs sister and a caretaker for her mother. Her life took a dramatic turn when she won a staggering US$2 million (AU$3.058 million) from a scratcher card.

In an episode of My Lottery Dream Home, available for streaming on 9Now, Christine sought the guidance of host David Bromstad to fulfill her lifelong dream of owning a home. Reflecting on her past struggles, Christine shared how she used to scrape by on each paycheck, supporting her two children amidst her various responsibilities.

Originally from Massachusetts, Christine had spent her entire career working in retail. However, after winning US$2 million (AU$3.058 million), she made the decision to prioritize the search for her family’s permanent residence over work. Despite her newfound wealth, Christine remained grounded, setting a modest budget of US$550,000 (AU$840,000) for her dream home.

Christine had a specific vision in mind for her new home: three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fenced-in backyard, and a location near the waterfront. David Bromstad diligently scoured options to match her wishlist, leading Christine to explore a lakeside property in Cedar Shore, spanning half an acre.

“Absolutely love it!” Christine exclaimed as she stepped through the front door, delighted to find that the property fell comfortably under budget at US$499,000 (AU$760,000). Her excitement only grew as she toured a second property, situated on nearly 1.5 acres of land and valued at US$459,000 (AU$700,000).

“The space for my kids to play is incredible,” Christine beamed, envisioning the potential for their enjoyment. However, she hesitated, uncertain whether she could manage the maintenance required for the expansive land accompanying the property.

Brad had one final option to present to Christine – a sleek, move-in-ready townhouse nestled in Sunny Meadows, listed at US$500,000 (AU$764,000). Entranced by the contemporary décor, Christine couldn’t help but appreciate the modern aesthetics. However, she grappled with the concern that this home might not offer enough space for her family to comfortably spread out.

To discover Christine’s ultimate choice among the properties, tune in to Episode 2, Season 13 of My Lottery Dream Home, available for streaming on 9Now.
