Rock the Block is returning to HGTV for its highly anticipated sixth season, and fans couldn’t be more excited! This season introduces an electrifying twist: rookies face off against veterans in a battle of design and renovation prowess.
The lineup includes Windy City Rehab star Alison Victoria teaming up with former Rock the Block champion Michel Smith Boyd, Farmhouse Fixerstar Jonathan Knight joining forces with his brother and New Kids on the Block bandmate Jordan Knight, Down Home Fab’s dynamic married duo Chelsea and Cole DeBoer, and Renovation Aloha’stalented Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama. Let the competition begin!
Ty Pennington is back as host of Rock the Block and has been giving fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes peek at filming via Instagram.
This week, he revealed that filming has officially wrapped and the show is set to premiere in early 2025. Fans are buzzing with excitement, leaving comments like, “Seems like you just started??? That was fast! ❤️,”
“Looking forward to seeing this season! I love all the teams—can’t wait to see how it all shakes out!” and “Ooohh I’m so excited for this season!! It’s going to be SPICY!! 🌶.” The anticipation is building for what promises to be an epic season!
Some HGTV fans used the opportunity to voice a familiar critique about Rock the Block: the judging process.
In past seasons, weekly winners were selected by different HGTV stars, and the overall champion was decided based on the added property value, rather than factors like livability or design. For instance, in Season 5, Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis (Unsellable Houses) clinched the grand prize by incorporating solar panels and backup batteries into their property.
Fans expressed their thoughts on Ty Pennington’s post, with comments like, “I hope it is more fairly judged this season” and “One of my favorite shows!! I do hope the winners are chosen based on the most functional and aesthetically pleasing home rather than just price!”
In response, Ty offered an intriguing update: “There were some changes made. I think you’ll be happy 🤗.” While we’ll have to wait until early 2025 to see what those changes are, the excitement for the new season is already building!
