In Fall 2023, HGTV’s popular series “Bargain Block” wrapped up filming its highly-anticipated 5th season. During filming, the network revealed the four pairs of returning contestants who would be vying for redemption on the block. Additionally, HGTV disclosed that the setting for this season would be the waterfront homes in Treasure Island, Florida, previously featured in “Rock the Block.”
In a press release dated January 22, the network officially announced the premiere date for the seven-episode season. Fans can catch the excitement starting Monday, March 4, at 9 p.m. Eastern on HGTV, with episodes also available for streaming on Max Mondays at 9 p.m.
The cast of “Rock the Block” season 5 features familiar faces such as Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas from “Bargain Block,” Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis from “Unsellable Houses,” Bryan and Sarah Baeumler from “Renovation Island” and “Battle on the Beach,” and Page Turner and Mitch Glew from “Fix My Flip.” Armed with $250,000 budgets and a six-week timeline, all four teams will strive to transform their Treasure Island homes. The ultimate winners will be determined by the team that adds the most value to their renovation project.
Who is Coming Back to Judge ‘Rock the Block’?
In addition to the coveted bragging rights, the victorious team will earn the unique privilege of renaming the street where the competition unfolds after themselves. However, achieving this honor won’t be easy; the four competing teams must consistently impress the guest judges each week as they meticulously renovate their homes, one space at a time.
Alongside the premiere date reveal, the network disclosed the lineup of familiar faces set to grace the Block and award weekly victories. The premiere episode will kick off with a focus on kitchen and dining room renovations, with season 3 champions Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson (known from “Married to Real Estate”) stepping in to determine the deserving winner.
Joining the panel of judges are fellow industry luminaries, each bringing their expertise to evaluate different aspects of the renovations. Season 2 victors Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt, known for their work on “100 Day Dream Home,” will scrutinize the living rooms and other first-floor areas, as well as the outdoor spaces including backyards, pools, and covered decks.
Adding to the critique, season 4 contestant Kristina Crestin, of “Farmhouse Fixer” fame, will assess the main suites, while season 4 champion Michel Smith Boyd, from “Luxe for Less,” teams up with season 4 judge Veronica Valencia, known from “Revealed,” to judge the exteriors, balconies, and boat docks of the homes.
For the grand finale, Property Brother Jonathan Scott will make a special appearance on the Block. Jonathan will conduct a thorough evaluation of the entire homes before joining host Ty Pennington to announce the winners.
HGTV executive Loren Ruch expressed excitement for the upcoming competition in a statement, saying, “The four returning teams know the ins and outs of this competition well and they will strategize every decision to gain an edge on their opponents. In the end, these teams are stepping up for the ultimate rematch and are determined not to go home empty-handed.”
