Monty Don Confirms the Fate of Gardeners World. Cancelled or Renewed?

Monty Don recently provided a much-anticipated update regarding his future with Gardeners’ World, quelling speculation about a potential departure. Amidst rumors of his possible exit, the beloved gardening program is poised to make its return to BBC Two next week.

While fans bid farewell to the final episode of Monty Don’s Spanish Gardens airing tonight, anticipation mounts for the reinstallation of Gardeners’ World in its familiar 8 pm slot on Friday, March 15th. Assuaging concerns, Monty reassured viewers that he remains an integral part of the program’s core.

This announcement follows Monty’s candid acknowledgment of the show’s demanding nature, describing it as a “relentless treadmill” in an interview with the Radio Times. Despite hinting at the possibility of stepping away with his statement, “The logical thing to do is to give up Gardener’s World,” the 68-year-old presenter affirmed his continued commitment. Moreover, he disclosed the arduous nature of his filming schedule for the upcoming series, emphasizing his unwavering dedication to the show and its audience.

Monty Don recently shared a snapshot of hay bales scattered across a picturesque field, captioning it with insights into his day’s events: “A quick run with Ned after a full day’s filming in the garden. First one down – about 80 more to go before the end of summer.”

As a beloved figure on BBC, Monty has been the face of the gardening advice and inspiration show since 2003. Since 2011, the program has been broadcasted from his own garden in Herefordshire, further endearing him to audiences. Fans eagerly welcomed news of his return, expressing their excitement on Monty’s Instagram post.

Ladygchatterley conveyed gratitude, acknowledging the effort put into the show: “Thank you. It must be exhausting but we all really appreciate the end result. Can’t wait for the next season on TV x.” Similarly, dalzielgardendesign expressed anticipation for the upcoming season: “Looking forward to my Friday evening feature gardeners world again!”

Echoing these sentiments, daddiodad humorously referred to the show as their “Friday night therapy”: “Can’t wait…it’s basically my Friday night therapy!!” Finally, lesley.hannon60 nostalgically reminisced about their longstanding connection to the show: “I can’t wait!! Have watched GW for well over 30/40 years. I absolutely get lost in all the wonder and beauty. Friday nights back to normal.” Such heartfelt responses attest to the enduring impact of Monty Don’s work and the anticipation surrounding the return of Gardeners’ World.

Monty Don recently revisited his earlier remarks about departing the show, acknowledging his change of perspective in an interview with The Times. He admitted, “I was naive,” clarifying that he now envisions remaining with the series for at least three more years.

Reflecting on his initial statements, made “at the end of a long year,” Monty attributed his earlier sentiments to fatigue, stating, “I was tired and thought it would be nice to have a rest, but I was naive to say that.”

However, he made it unequivocally clear that he is now fully committed to continuing his involvement with the show. With one year remaining on his current contract, negotiations are underway for an additional two years, solidifying Monty’s dedication to Gardeners’ World and its viewers.
