Now, she is bidding farewell to yet another enduring business endeavor of hers: the Two Chicks and a Hammer District Co. retail store.
On September 29, Starsiak Hawk took to her business’s Instagram page to share the heart-wrenching news that Two Chicks District Co. would be ceasing its public operations at the close of 2023. She conveyed, “As a small business, our store has encountered numerous challenges, particularly during the tumultuous times in which we first opened, amidst the backdrop of the COVID pandemic. The decision to shutter the store has been an exceedingly difficult one and not taken lightly.”
Mina Starsiak Hawk Thanks Her Loyal Customers for Their Support
Two Chicks’ District Co. store proudly welcomed its first customers on June 20, 2020, during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. The transformation of this commercial space was prominently showcased in a season five episode of “Good Bones.”At the time of the store’s grand opening, Mina Starsiak Hawk expressed her vision for it, as reported by IndyStar. She articulated her desire for the store to be more than just a mere tourist attraction for fans of the show, emphasizing her aspiration for it to serve as a true cornerstone within the community. Starsiak Hawk shared, “It’s not merely a store that draws visitors because of the show; it’s intended to be a robust and integral part of the local community.”
Mina Starsiak Hawk echoed this sentiment in her heartfelt message announcing the closure of Two Chicks District Co., expressing her deep appreciation for the devoted fans who have stood by her throughout the three years since the store’s inception.
In the caption of her post, Starsiak Hawk acknowledged the disappointment that this news might bring to those who had made the store a cherished stop on their travels.
She conveyed her gratitude by saying, “My team and I recognize that many of you have made Two Chicks District Co. a destination during your journeys, and we understand that this announcement may be disheartening.”
She went on to highlight the personal connections she had formed with visitors, sharing moments with them and introducing them to her family, including her children and husband. Starsiak Hawk emphasized that the store had become a second home to her and her family, making the decision to say goodbye, although emotionally wrenching, a necessary one for her family’s well-being. She concluded by urging understanding and extending grace, reminding everyone that appearances can often be deceiving.
In response, fans flooded the comment section with messages of support and empathy for the HGTV host. One user expressed, “I’m sorry to hear this. You’ve worked so hard for everything you have, and it hurts my heart a bit to see this. Here’s hoping for new and better adventures on the horizon for you and your family.”
Another fan added, “So sad. Losing the show and now closing the store. 😢”
A third fan shared, “Super sad! As I never have been able to make it to Indy to shop in person, I have purchased online. Wishing you the best in the next chapter, whatever you decide is best for your family. All of your fans are here for it! ❤️”
Although the closure of Two Chicks District Co. is scheduled for the end of 2023, it appears that Mina Starsiak Hawk’s team encountered an unexpected obstacle one day after the closure announcement on September 30. The store’s Instagram account shared that they would be closed for the day “due to a staffing issue.”
Despite this staffing hiccup, the store is currently maintaining its regular operating schedule, open each week from Thursday through Monday.
In her official closing announcement, Starsiak Hawk also revealed that the store would initiate a “going out of business sale” starting on October 26, 2023, coinciding with the launch of the Holiday Drop.
