Although “Good Bones” has wrapped up its eight-season journey on HGTV, fans of Mina Starsiak Hawk won’t have to wait long to see her back in action. Mina is gearing up for a new venture that she describes as a nostalgic return to the roots of her career, reigniting the same passion and enthusiasm she felt when she first entered the world of home renovation.

In a recent episode of her podcast, “Mina AF,” Mina shared exciting details about this upcoming spinoff project. The focus is on a lake house that she and her husband, Steve Hawk, have had their eyes on for nearly three years. This property has now become what Mina calls her “new dream.”

Located just 35 minutes from Indianapolis in an area close to her heart, this project has sparked both creativity and excitement within Mina.

“It’s this place I envision as not just a retreat for my immediate family but also somewhere extended family can gather to create lasting memories,” says Mina. “I’ve heard so many wonderful stories from friends about growing up at their grandparents’ lake houses—running through the woods, building forts—and I want my kids to experience that kind of magic.”

Due to financial constraints, Mina and Steve plan to tackle the renovation in two phases.

As she openly admits: “We’re breaking it down into stages because we simply don’t have enough money to do everything at once. Contrary to popular belief, I’m not rolling in cash.”

The first phase will focus on essential living spaces like the living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom with its bathroom suite as well as bedrooms and bathroom for their children. The second phase will address outdoor areas at the back along with finishing touches in the basement.

Mina provided an update on where things stand with this new endeavor:

“Right now we’re filming Phase One for what will be a two-part spinoff series—and it’s been such fun! Steve’s hands-on involvement makes it even more special; our kids are often around too which adds another layer of joy; plus we’ve got MJ Coyle (Good Bones’ head designer) along with Austin Aynes (construction coordinator) helping out during demolition—it really takes me back!”

For this project’s design aesthetic—mid-century modern—Mina is stepping outside her usual style while still ensuring it reflects her personal touch.
