It’s been a hectic week for HGTV star Mina Starsiak Hawk. In addition to managing the closure of her physical retail store, Two Chicks District.
Co., while keeping the online shop up and running, she faced a frustrating situation at home. On October 10, Starsiak Hawk took to Instagram to share that her house had been targeted by a thief, which she managed to catch on video.
“Some guy stole two packages off our porch this morning while Steve was up just before 5. 🤬 And what’s even more annoying is that he didn’t close the gate! Steal our stuff and then risk letting our dog run away? 👊🏻 Not cool, man,” Starsiak Hawk wrote, sharing security footage from her front yard that showed a stranger casually walking up to her door and taking the packages. “If you live around here (we’re in North Square), please share this in case we can figure out who this guy is. The packages weren’t super valuable, but it’s the principle of it. I just hope this guy has a little girl who’s been dying for tap shoes and someone in his life who’s been really wanting an oversized denim jacket. SMH.”
Fans Send Suggestions to Mina Starsiak Hawk
Fans quickly flooded Mina Starsiak Hawk’s comment section with reactions and suggestions on how she might track down the thief who stole packages from her porch.
One fan humorously suggested, “Might be time for another glitter bomb! I can’t believe the boldness of these porch pirates!” Glitter bombs are decoy packages filled with glitter that explode when opened, creating a huge mess for the thief.
Another follower shared their own clever idea, commenting, “I’m in Fletcher Place and have thought about leaving Amazon boxes with used cat litter/waste on my porch. Maybe he’ll hit me next! 😂”
One fan tried to analyze the footage for clues, writing, “Doesn’t look like he had gloves on, maybe there are fingerprints on the gate.” Starsiak Hawk responded, “Our police department isn’t going to waste time or resources checking for prints, unfortunately.”
Another fan shared a more secure solution, saying, “My brother-in-law has a big lockbox on his porch for deliveries. The delivery person has to enter a code to unlock it and drop the package inside. He hasn’t had any more packages stolen. I’m seriously considering getting one myself.”
