Lyndsay Lamb Opens Up About Her Health Struggles: From Chronic Disorders to New Hope

Weeks before the highly anticipated premiere of Season 5 of HGTV’s “Unsellable Houses,” co-star Lyndsay Lamb has bravely opened up about a long-standing battle with health issues that have significantly impacted her life.

In a candid discussion on the August 20, 2024 episode of the “Twin Win Unfiltered” podcast, Lamb and her twin sister and co-star, Leslie Davis, shared details about Lyndsay’s ongoing health challenges and the journey she has endured for decades.

Lyndsay Lamb, known for her dynamic role on “Unsellable Houses,” has faced a series of health battles that have repeatedly sidelined her from her plans and required multiple surgeries.

Despite her public presence on the show, Lamb had kept much of her health struggles private until now. She revealed that only a few people were aware of the extent of her issues, which began in childhood and persisted throughout her life.

On the podcast, Lamb explained, “I’ve always been quiet about it. I’ve always had health issues and just always struggled with them.” The specific nature of her ailments involves “connective tissue” and “undefined autoimmune-type” disorders, which have caused a myriad of complications over the years. These conditions have led to numerous attempts to manage and rectify her health, including major surgeries.

Leslie Davis, providing additional context, recalled some of the more dramatic impacts of Lyndsay’s health problems. She shared a poignant memory of a family trip to Hawaii, where Lyndsay spent nine of their ten days in the hospital due to the altitude affecting her intestines and organs.

Davis described how Lyndsay’s connective tissue disorder made her organs particularly susceptible to shifting, causing significant pain and discomfort.

To mitigate such crises, Davis revealed that they now take precautions when flying, such as Lyndsay fasting for 24 hours before a flight to avoid exacerbating her condition. Despite these measures, Lamb’s health issues remained severe and persistent, often leading to fluctuations in her weight and ongoing pain.

Lyndsay Lamb has traditionally been reticent about discussing her health publicly, choosing to focus on her work rather than her personal struggles. She admitted, “I’ve always been super quiet about it. I’ve never wanted it to be, like, who I am.”

However, Davis noted that this approach might have been detrimental, as Lamb often pushed herself beyond her limits despite the negative impact on her health.

The podcast revealed that Lamb’s health challenges date back to her childhood, where she was noted as the “weaker” twin due to unequal placenta sharing in the womb.

This condition, according to research from the University of California-San Francisco, can lead to reduced blood flow and nutrients to one twin, contributing to ongoing health issues.

In recent developments, Lamb has found hope and relief through a new approach to managing her health. She shared that she has been working with an integrative medicine doctor who emphasizes a holistic approach to wellness.

This new regimen included a comprehensive detox from her previous medications and a complete overhaul of her diet, involving an “extreme elimination diet” followed by a gradual reintroduction of foods.

After a year of these changes, Lamb has experienced significant improvements. She no longer suffers from frequent headaches, has managed to maintain a healthy weight, and has improved her sleep quality.

The new diet, which excludes meat, limits dairy, sugar, and caffeine, has contributed to these positive changes. Lamb also revealed that she now sleeps better, a major improvement given her past struggles with diagnosed insomnia.

In addition to her health improvements, Lamb has been setting boundaries to prioritize rest and self-care, including turning off her phone by 8:30 PM each day and not working on Sundays. These changes have been crucial in her journey towards better health.

Leslie Davis expressed admiration for her sister’s resilience and the positive changes she has made. Lamb shared that her decision to open up about her health was driven by a desire to offer hope and encourage others to advocate for their own well-being.

The fifth season of “Unsellable Houses” is set to premiere on September 4, 2024, on HGTV, and viewers will see Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis return with their signature flair and renewed strength. Lamb’s courageous openness about her health struggles offers a powerful message of hope and perseverance, resonating deeply with those who face similar challenges.
