Jenny Marrs reveals feeling Hurt: “They Talked About My Kid, God. I Am Done”

She’s known for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering devotion to family on HGTV’s Fixer to Fabulous. But behind Jenny Marrs’ bright smile and calm demeanor is a woman who recently found herself battling the kind of pain that cuts deep — the kind caused by complete strangers hiding behind keyboards.

On March 23, Jenny Marrs pulled back the curtain on what it feels like to be in the public eye — not the glamorous side with fans and praise, but the cruel underside of internet fame. In a deeply personal and raw Instagram post, Jenny admitted she’d stumbled across a thread online that tore her apart.

“Yesterday, I happened upon some really hateful words written about me on the good ole’ internet,” she shared. “Reading through the thread, I went down a deep dark tunnel online of vile hatred.”

What followed was a wave of emotions that even someone as grounded as Jenny wasn’t fully prepared for. Her vulnerability struck a chord with fans — and with anyone who’s ever been the target of judgment or criticism for simply being themselves.

“I was shocked and so deeply hurt,” she wrote. “I truly don’t understand how strangers could feel so passionately about things like my voice (I can’t change this), my paint choices (take a breath folks, it’s paint), my sarcastic jokes (I’m sorry, I’m sarcastic, I always have been and always will) and my parenting…”

Yes — they even criticized her parenting. And that, for Jenny, was the tipping point.

They talked about MY KID, GOD. I am done.

It’s a moment most people would never share publicly. But Jenny did, and that honesty made her story all the more powerful.

Still, the pain lingered. “I laid it at God’s feet in my frustration. I told Him that I didn’t ask for any of this,” she wrote. “He knows I’m really just an insecure girl who wants a quiet life with my family, my animals and my garden. Yet, He asked me to step into a very different life…”

Jenny didn’t stay in that dark place. Instead, she leaned on the strength of her faith and the people who truly know her. She reached out to her “SOS people” — her close circle of friends and supporters — who lifted her up with prayer, scripture, and even memes to remind her of the truth.

One small, unexpected gift made all the difference. A stranger had sent her a Bible Recap study book, which Jenny said she’s now gifted to countless others. “It’s been life-giving,” she explained, and she even carries it at The Mercantile, the family’s store.

That day, she opened the book and read a passage she’d seen many times before — but this time, it hit differently.

My word for the year is ‘delight,’” she revealed, “and here, in black and white, is a reminder that God called me His ‘beloved’ and He delights in doing so.”

Not defined by the hateful words from strangers… but by the truth of who she really is: Beloved.

Jenny hesitated to share this story at first. But ultimately, she chose to speak up for the others out there silently hurting, lost in the noise of online criticism.

If that’s you,” she wrote to her followers, “I pray that you can turn down the lies and remember that you are Beloved.

It’s not just a message about overcoming online h@te. It’s a reminder that even those who appear strong and successful have moments of weakness — and in those moments, choosing vulnerability over silence can be a powerful act of healing.

And in Jenny Marrs’ case, it’s also an invitation: to delight, to forgive, and to keep going — no matter what the internet says.
