In this show, four teams of builders/designers will go head-to-head, each tasked with adding maximum value to one of four identical lakefront cabins within a “rundown” resort that McGillivray has acquired. With a tight deadline of only seven weeks and a budget of $100,000, the teams will showcase their skills and creativity, aiming to deliver exceptional transformations.
In addition to their roles as hosts, Baeumler and McGillivray will also serve as judges on the series. Alongside them, a lineup of rotating guest judges will join the show.

Notably, the series had previously aired in 2023 on HGTV Canada with the title “Renovation Resort.”

While not in a competitive role, “Renovation Resort Showdown” marks Bryan Baeumler’s third appearance on an HGTV competition show in 2023. Earlier in the year, Baeumler and his wife, Sarah Baeumler, joined forces as a team on the fourth season of “Rock the Block” in Berthoud, Colorado.
In a format similar to “Renovation Resort Showdown,” the Baeumlers went head-to-head with other pairs of HGTV stars, including Michel Smith Boyd and Anthony Elle from “Luxe for Less,” Mitch Glew and Page Turner from “Fix My Flip,” and Jonathan Knight and Kristina Crestin from “Farmhouse Fixer.” The competition revolved around adding the highest value to their identical $1.9 million homes, all while operating within a budget of $250,000.
