HGTV star Mina Starsiak Hawk recently closed her second Two Chicks District Co. store, just seven months after its grand opening.
In an interview with the *Indianapolis Star*, the *Good Bones* star explained the decision to shut down the Noblesville, Indiana location, which opened in March. Hawk revealed that the store was not financially sustainable.
“By the time it came to decide whether to stay open, I just couldn’t… we were losing money,” she shared with the outlet.
The original Two Chicks District Co. store, which was based in Indianapolis, closed in 2023 to pave the way for the Noblesville store. Offering home accessories like lamps and pillows, the Noblesville location officially closed on September 29. However, the online store is still operational.
“It was incredible—the neighborhood, the people—but unfortunately, the business side just wasn’t there to sustain it. Being in a very urban location, it needed to be a profitable venture,” Mina Starsiak Hawk explained about the store closure. She shared the news on Two Chicks’ social media accounts on Thursday, September 26, announcing, “This weekend is our last at the Noblesville Pop-Up location! District Co will continue to operate online, and I’m really excited about the cute holiday collection coming soon.”
On her personal Instagram, Hawk opened up to her followers, saying, “Not gonna lie, the last few months have taken a toll on me mentally, and I let it affect me physically. I fell off the wagon with my regular workouts, which makes everything worse, at least for me.”
She added, “It took me a while to get back on track, but often, the hard things you don’t want to do are exactly what you need to do.”
Hawk concluded with gratitude, saying, “Big shoutout to my amazing family, who are my motivation for everything I do, and to my hubby, who’s not only my trainer (shoutout to @hawk_fit_) but also the one who sticks with me through this roller coaster. Sometimes unsure—just like me—but always with 100% confidence in me, even when I struggle to believe it myself.”
Hawk’s fans quickly flooded the comments with words of encouragement. One supporter wrote, “Inspiring & REAL, to say the least!!”
Another commented, “Just remember, you are a badass and an amazing mom.”
“You are an inspiration! I’m sorry you’ve had a tough time lately. I’ve watched and listened to everything you do and am rooting for you and your precious family,” added another.
In recent years, Hawk has been candid about her family conflicts, including feuds with her mother, Karen E. Laine, and her brother, Ted Starsiak. The family was featured together in eight seasons of *Good Bones*, HGTV’s hit renovation series.
During her *Mina AF* podcast, following the *Good Bones* series finale last fall, Hawk revealed that her relationships with her mom and brother were strained, sharing, “I wasn’t in a great place with them.” In October, she further elaborated on her relationship with Karen, saying, “We do not talk. We haven’t in a long time.”
Despite the ongoing tensions, Hawk and Laine are both featured in a new *Good Bones* limited series. However, they work separately—Hawk and her husband focus on their lake house, while Laine embarks on a new venture in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she takes a financial risk, renovating a 120-year-old bungalow into a beautiful beach house.
