Giada De Laurentiis is an Italian-American celebrity chef, television personality, and author, best known for her cooking shows on the Food Network.
She was born on August 22, 1970, in Rome, Italy, and comes from a famous family with deep roots in the entertainment industry. Her grandfather, Dino De Laurentiis, was a legendary film producer, while her mother, Veronica De Laurentiis, is an actress.
Giada moved to the United States at a young age and later pursued culinary arts at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. After completing her studies, she returned to Los Angeles, where she worked as a professional chef in prestigious restaurants and for private clients.
Her big break came when she was discovered by the Food Network and began hosting her own cooking show, Everyday Italian, which debuted in 2003. The show was a huge success and showcased Giada’s approachable Italian recipes and warm personality.
Over the years, Giada has hosted numerous other shows, including Giada at Home, Giada’s Weekend Getaways, and Giada in Italy, solidifying her status as one of the most prominent figures in the culinary world.
In addition to her television career, she has authored several bestselling cookbooks and launched her own line of kitchen products.

Giada De Laurentiis made the significant decision to step away from the Food Network in early 2023 after 21 years.
During an episode of Rebecca Minkoff’s Superwomen podcast, Giada opened up about the burnout she experienced from constantly switching gears in her career. She explained how, every seven years, she felt the need to evolve creatively, saying,
“I would switch gears without knowing it every seven years.”
This was evident when she transitioned from Everyday Italian to a new phase in her career after becoming pregnant, which she described as a major shift in both her personal and professional life.Despite her long tenureand success at Food Network, Giada admitted that the pace eventually took its toll.
“I got burnt out and I couldn’t see a path that was exciting anymore,”
she shared, adding that she needs excitement in her work. At the time, the network had given her considerable freedom to explore various projects, which she appreciated.
However, over time, she realized it was time to move on and focus on new opportunities, such as her lifestyle brand, Giadzy.
Juggling motherhood, her divorce, and the demands of her work led to a breaking point for Giada, where, as she put it, it “felt like the world was crumbling around me.”
In 2023, she decided to pivot her focus entirely. “About two and a half years ago, I finally was like, okay, I’m gonna make the jump,” she explained. She stepped away from the Food Network and is now channeling her energy into Giadzy, while still maintaining a lighter TV schedule with her new deal at Amazon Studios.
Despite her long-standing relationship with the network, Giada doesn’t miss her time there, saying candidly, “No. I know, I should say yes. I think it’s because I got burnt out.” She emphasized that if she felt bored, her viewers likely did as well, prompting her to seek new paths
