Having concluded the fifth season of her HGTV hit, “Fixer to Fabulous,” Jenny Marrs recently disclosed that bidding farewell to the production crew proved to be the most challenging aspect, particularly due to the uncertainty surrounding another season. As of now, HGTV has not officially renewed the show for a sixth season.
In a video shared on Instagram on December 8, 2023, Marrs offered a glimpse behind the scenes of the season’s final house reveal. Reflecting on the experience, she conveyed the bittersweet feelings associated with wrapping up another season.
“It’s reminiscent of the end of the school year when we bid each other farewell, saying ‘have a great summer!’ and disperse to our families for a few months,” Marrs wrote. “Yet, we depart without certainty of reuniting. We earnestly hope and pray that the audience appreciates what we’ve crafted enough for us to come together once again next year.”

Jenny & Dave Marrs Just Finished Filming 16 Episodes for Season 5 of ‘Fixer to Fabulous’
The fifth season of “Fixer to Fabulous” on HGTV kicked off its Tuesday night broadcasts in early November, even as the cast and crew were still in the process of wrapping up filming for the entire season.
In an Instagram post, Marrs conveyed the completion of filming, emphasizing the year-long commitment required for renovating 16 homes. She expressed heartfelt sentiments about missing the dedicated crew and producers who contribute immensely to the show’s success.
Highlighting the profound connection with her colleagues, Marrs shared, “Above all, the absolute hands-down best part of this job is working alongside these talented, hardworking, hilarious, and caring people. We sure will miss them as they fly home today to their families. They have become an extension of our own family, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have them by our side all year. Here’s hoping we get to do it again next year! 🤍”
On December 2, Marrs shared a photo capturing the entire crew during their annual holiday party.
Expressing gratitude, she wrote, “I will treasure the laughs and memories from last night (and this entire year), always. Season five has been a ride – exhausting, challenging, and wildly fun – it was so good to step away and celebrate all we were able to accomplish together.”
Back in June, HGTV officially greenlit a 16-episode fifth season of “Fixer to Fabulous.” With the show’s popularity and the Marrs already working on a spinoff series, the prospects for a sixth season seem promising.
As reported by Deadline, HGTV has also given the green light to a four-episode spinoff titled “Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano.” This spinoff takes on their “most challenging property yet: a crumbling, centuries-old Italian villa.” The Marrs have embarked on multiple trips to Italy for this ambitious project, and the spinoff is scheduled to premiere in 2024.
Carpenter Joe Looney Has Retired From ‘Fixer to Fabulous’

Even if “Fixer to Fabulous” secures a renewal, there will be a notable absence in the team. Joe Looney, a retired firefighter and a cherished member of the crew, has bid farewell as the fifth season concluded. Looney, who has been one of the Marrs’ go-to carpenters since the series debuted in 2017, decided to retire.
Introduced to the show by his son, Chase, Looney played a pivotal role in the series. In a September 2022 interview with San Antonio Magazine, Chase mentioned that he agreed to be on the show only under the condition that his father, whom he referred to as his “best friend,” could join the journey.
Reflecting on their dynamic, Chase shared, “Well, me and (Joe) have been a duo since I was about 14. I started working for him around then. When the show came around, Dave told me, ‘I won’t do it without you, Chase.’ I said, ‘That’s fine—I won’t do it without my dad.’ So, basically from the beginning, my dad was a big part.”
In a heartfelt post about the cast and crew’s holiday party, Jenny expressed how much she’ll miss Joe. “I can’t imagine doing this without him by our side, but I’m grateful for the many years (so many pre-TV) with this amazing human,” she wrote. “He deserves a little rest, and we all sent him off to retirement with a whole lot of love (and requests to just pop by anytime he’d like).”
Love Fixer to Fabulous show. The homes they remmodel are so beautiful. I hope they will be on for many years.
They are so in love with each other and their family.
I love watching Fixer to Fabulous, always learning something, enjoying “Jenny’s” ideas, love seeing their family, love their values. I have loved HGTV for years however some of the other recent programs are not as good as they used to be. I would be very disappointed to not see continued episodes of Fixer.
