Egypt Sherrod is turning to fans for advice as she considers a bold new move that could mark a major personal milestone.

The HGTV favorite revealed on Instagram Monday, March 9, that she has been seriously thinking about getting her very first tattoo. Sherrod admitted the urge seemed to come out of nowhere, joking that she was not sure whether it was a midlife moment or simply a long-awaited decision she was finally ready to make.

According to Sherrod, she does not want just any design. She has her heart set on a phoenix rising, with the artwork wrapping around her waist and extending up her back. She made it clear she is not casually floating the idea either. She says she is ready to go through with it and wants help finding the right person to bring the vision to life.

Sherrod asked followers to recommend what she called the best tattoo artist in the country, saying she is willing to travel anywhere for the perfect match. She also promised to document the experience and share the journey with fans once the tattoo becomes reality.

Her followers quickly jumped into the comments with encouragement, advice, and personal stories. Many loved the phoenix concept and praised the meaning behind it. Some even shared their own experiences of getting their first tattoos later in life, insisting the decision had nothing to do with crisis and everything to do with confidence and self-expression.

Others, though, offered a more practical warning. Several commenters pointed out that even small tattoos can be painful, and a large back piece is a major commitment, especially for a first-timer. A few suggested she start in stages or test the design first with a temporary version before committing to something permanent.

The phoenix choice appears to carry deep meaning for Sherrod. In an August 2025 TEDx Talk, she spoke about the idea of a phoenix rising from the ashes while reflecting on rebuilding and reinventing herself after difficult seasons in both life and business.

That symbolism feels especially timely. Just two months before, Sherrod announced that Married to Real Estate, the HGTV series she starred in with husband Mike Jackson, had been canceled after four seasons. The show was among several renovation series the network let go last year.

Even so, Sherrod has already hinted that her television story may not be over. In January, she replied to a fan on Instagram saying that she and Jackson would be back soon. Around the same time, the couple also shared plans to expand their growing company, Indigo Road Realty & Design, beyond Atlanta and into Dallas, Houston, and Orlando.

Whether the tattoo happens or not, fans can already see that Sherrod is embracing a new chapter, and she seems determined to make it a meaningful one.

I can also turn this into a more emotional People-style version, a 500-word celebrity news article, or a YouTube narration script.
