They’ve been on many HGTV shows.
This dynamic design duo has undeniably left an indelible mark in the realm of home reality shows. Prior to their current venture on Married to Real Estate, Sherrod was the host of HGTV’s Property Virgins.
Subsequently, she ventured into HGTV’s Flipping Virgins, where Jackson made guest appearances. The couple’s television presence extends to popular HGTV programs like Rock the Block, Brother vs. Brother alongside Drew and Jonathan Scott, and the Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge.

They pitched Married to Real Estate to HGTV.
Discovering the journey of HGTV stars and how they reached their current status is always captivating. In the case of Sherrod and Jackson, the path was rather straightforward: they pitched their own show.
The genesis of this idea occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sherrod shared with HGTV, “Being somewhat confined together, both of us running our respective businesses from the kitchen counter, with our kids engaged in virtual school at the other end, it was a bit of a zoo here.
But we were getting it done, and then Mike said, ‘Well, let’s film this.’ We began making people laugh on social media with our daily antics—trying to navigate work and balance home life. Our management recognized the potential and suggested, ‘Y’all really have something here; you should shoot a sizzle reel.’ So we did, sent it to HGTV, and they loved it.”
Today, Married to Real Estate is thriving in its third season. The show chronicles the couple’s quest to find homes for their clients in and around Atlanta, transforming these spaces into dream residences—all while adeptly managing the demands of their bustling family life.
They’ve been together for nearly two decades.
Sherrod and Jackson have shared 19 years together and celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary, consistently expressing their love for each other on special occasions. Reflecting on their journey, Sherrod wrote on Instagram in 2023, “We have come so far as individuals and as a couple. Happy Anniversary, babe! To my best friend and the love of my life. I choose you every day.”
In a similar vein, Jackson commemorated their wedding day, September 11, 2010, on Instagram, stating, “Today marks 13 years as one, 19 years together. To my babe, my life partner, my business partner, my spiritual union… HAPPY ANNIVERSARY LOVE! @egyptsherrod I still cherish everything about you. Let’s continue to create memories, build a legacy, have fun, and enjoy many more experiences!”
They fell in love while renovating a house.
Their love story reads like the perfect script for a home renovation duo: Sherrod and Jackson’s romance blossomed while immersed in a house project. Despite both being acquainted in the entertainment world, their true connection formed during a collaborative effort on a home project for a client. This pivotal moment unfolded in the early 2000s when Sherrod, working as a real estate agent specializing in house flipping, sought assistance to complete construction tasks. Jackson recalled, “[She] needed some extra hands, and the team that showed up was mine. And from that point on, we were inseparable.”
They have three children.
Their family is comprised of three daughters: 4-year-old Harper, 11-year-old Kendall, and 21-year-old Simone from Mike’s previous relationship. Speaking about the third season of [Married to Real Estate], Sherrod humorously remarked to House Beautiful, “We’re just the background because our kids steal the show. Harper steals the show. We were told today at lunch that it’s Harper’s show.”
Sherrod was a longtime radio personality.
Prior to venturing into real estate, Sherrod forged a successful career in radio that spanned almost two decades. Her journey began with hosting a jazz radio show and eventually led her to become a music director in Philadelphia. During her time on the airwaves, Sherrod conducted interviews with notable figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, and the late James Brown and Prince, showcasing an impressive and diverse range of guests. Quite casually accomplished!
Their home is incredible.
Devotees of Married to Real Estate have been treated to glimpses of Sherrod and Jackson’s remarkable home on the HGTV show. In an exclusive HGTV tour of their residence in Atlanta, the couple invited viewers to explore the inviting interiors characterized by a soothing color palette of whites, grays, and vibrant pops of blue.
Shedding light on their design choices, Sherrod shared in the video, “That’s the problem with designers. We infinitely change our minds, which is also why most of our house is white and natural colors because I’m afraid if I commit too much to color, I’ll get bored quickly. But I get to express myself with our clients’ houses.”
They also have a dreamy backyard, which they’ve shared videos of on Instagram. It features a sizable deck and pool with water features. The outdoor space is lined by tall trees, providing privacy and a magical forest backdrop.

While Sherrod and Jackson undoubtedly know how to enjoy themselves, they approach their work and family commitments with a sincere dedication. Additionally, they consistently express gratitude for the lives they lead. On Instagram, Sherrod pondered on how “we are all only the sum of our experiences and deeds.”
She continued, reflecting on the valuable lessons she has learned throughout her journey: “Tough lessons build character, grace by fire. When I was fired from my first job at 17 I learned ACCOUNTABILITY. When I started gambling with my own money flipping houses I learned CALCULATED RISK. When I decided to start my own business I learned the importance of INTEGRITY. When I chose to leave an 18-year radio career, I learned to WALK ON FAITH. When I wanted love and marriage, I learned there was no ‘I’ in ‘WE.'”
Sherrod extended encouragement for others to embrace challenges as opportunities for personal growth. “So let’s look at every obstacle as an opportunity to learn more about our own resilience, fortitude, and determination,” she added.
