Premiering on September 23, 2011, The Dead Files is an American documentary paranormal TV series aired on the Travel Channel. The show follows physical mediums Amy Allan (until 2023), Cindy Kaza (since 2023), and former NYPD homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi as they investigate purportedly haunted locations at the request of clients, aiming to substantiate claims of paranormal activity.
The unique approach involves each partner exploring the case independently to maintain objectivity. The collaboration culminates in the “reveal” segment, where they share and compare their findings with the clients.
In a press release on April 21, 2023, it was revealed that the fifteenth season is set to premiere on June 1, 2023. Notably, it was announced that Amy Allan would be leaving the series after the June 29 episode, and she would be succeeded by medium Cindy Kaza.
Why was Dead Files Canceled?
Fans waiting for the new season of the show will be sadden by the news that Steve DiSchiavi recently shared on his tiktok. According to him, the network decided to end the show. When fans asked if it’s due to the low ratings after the departure of Amy Allan from the show, he responded,
“let me make something clear, if anything, the show was getting a better review and rating after Amy’s departure. The last few episodes, Cindy was on the show, it was doing really well in terms of the ratings, so, the reason for the show’s ending is not because Amy left, so, get that out of your head”,
Steve went on to reveal the real reason why the show ended was because of the financial situations that the network was facing.
He also hopes that if another network picks up the show, there’s a possibility of them coming back to our screen, if not, it’s officially the end of a decade long ghost hunting and investigating show.
Hopefully, some other network will be interested in picking up the Deadfiles.
