Chip and Joanna Gaines Having Another Baby? Meet their Children.

Who does not know Chip and Joanna Gaines? They are one of the very first HGTV couples to host a renovation show, Fixer to Upper. As the show aired for 5 long years (2013- 2018) on HGTV, their fans still love to inquire and have a sneak peek into the pair’s personal life.

Chip and Joanna Gaines Have 5 Children: Are They Having More?

The Gaines couple is the proud parents of 5 children, Drake, Ella, Duke, Emma, and Crew. Now a large family of 7, it was once just Chip and Joanna when they exchanged wedding vows on 31st May 2003 in Waco, Texas.

The couple together started their real estate business, which slowly grew to be the Magnolia Empire, a television network, real estate company, and home furnishings. But it wasn’t just their career that was flourishing; their family was expanding too, making them the parents of 5 adorable children at present.

Chip says as a father of 5, he and Joanna have managed to handle their work life and parental duties by making a balance between specific rules and by giving them the required freedom. He once mentioned that he grew up in a family with a strict rule, “Back by Dark.”

So he initially thought he would not be that restrictive with his children. But when he got to be a parent, he said he sometimes acted like a strict drill sergeant and was not proud of some of his behavior as a parent.

Now, while many of you may think that the children must have an extraordinary lifestyle as their parents own a business empire, Chip and Joanna try their best to give them a very everyday life. Likewise, Joanna once said they are also raising their kids to be kind and better humans,

“Every day, we try to teach our own kids to be kind to themselves, to each other, to neighbors, and especially to those who look like they are alone,”

As mentioned frequently, the Gaines have 5 children, and we assume they have now settled with a family of 7. However, before their youngest child, Crew, was born, Joanna said their 4 children, especially Emma, would always ask for a younger sibling.

In a 2017 interview, Mr. Gaines hinted that though Chip does not want more kids, they may try for one last baby. She said they might have an addition to their family and, in fact, would love twins. So, the Gaines welcomed their youngest child in 2018.

Drake Gaines is 18

Drake is the first child of Chip and Joanna Gaines, and he is already an adult. Born on 5th February 2005, Drake is 18 years old.

The parents have named him after a hotel, Drake Hotel in New York hotel which is the place where they stayed during their honeymoon. Drake is a sports enthusiast who loves to play football and water sports. In addition, he also loves to film and edit videos.

He has been the man behind most of his mother’s videos on Instagram. So as per his mother, Drake’s interest also lies in the production side.

Likewise, as their flirt born embarks on the journey to adulthood, the parents cannot help but get emotional. In 2020, Joanna shared an emotional Instagram post after her son got his driving permit. She said,

“My 15-year-old little boy drove home with Chip, and all of a sudden, he is all grown up.”

And a year after, in 2021, Chip mentioned that Joanna cried her eyes out after Drake got his driving license.

Likewise, in 2022, Drake moved out for college, and the mother wrote a heartwarming essay in her Magnolia Journal. She wrote,

“Soon, our oldest son, Drake, will be leaving home for college. In the grand scheme of heartbreaking things, this one comes with a lot of gratitude and excitement … But still, my first child is moving away, and our family dynamic will change because of it, and that can feel like a loss of its own.”

Now while many of you may wish to track him on social media, his social media presence handles are private. Unlike his parents, Drake prefers a lowkey life.

Ella Gaines is 16

Born on 20th October 2006, Ella Gaines is the second child and first daughter in the Gaines family.

She is mummy’s girl and mostly follows in her footsteps. Only 16, but Miss Ella already knows what she wants to become in the future.

Like her mother, she aspires to become a designer and businesswoman. In 2019, Joanna said Ella wanted to become a chef and own a donuts truck.

In fact, Joanna shared that Ella was selling banana pudding and chocolate cake cookies from her cookbook and was selling them at their office during her summer break.

Similarly, the teenager also enjoys gardening, and the “Fixer Upper” fans must have noticed that on the show.

Ella also has her driving license, and her parents cannot believe how fast they are growing up. On Ella’s 16th Birthday, Joanna posted a video on her Instagram where she decorated the house with balloons and had a Sweet 16 banner on the wall. And she mentioned that she is trying her best not to cry and that her baby will drive by herself for her birthday.

Duke Gaines is 14

Chip and Joanna became parents to their third child, Duke Gaines, on 23rd May 2008. Duke is 14 years old and is probably the funniest of all.

Last Halloween, he dressed as a giant minion, and his mother could not stop capturing the funny moment when her son was trying to fit in from a door.

Duke is in high school, and it’s just a matter of time before Joanna cries again after her third child gets a driving license and moves out for college.

At present, he has a mini business with his little sister Emma.

Emma Gaines is 13

Emma Gaines is the youngest girl in the family. Born on 5th January 2010, she is 13 years old.

Emma and Duke are just months apart and like best friends. The brother-sister has even started their own business where they go home to home to sell eggs.

Likewise, she also loves baking like her elder sister Ella. In fact, she came up with her own cookie recipe in 2019. Emma also loves reading. She even did the audio version of her mother’s book in 2020.

Crew Gaines is 4

Just when Joanna and Chip thought they were done having kids, the older children asked for one more sibling. Now, Crew Gaines is the youngest of all. He is just 4 years and has all the attention of the family. He was born on the 21st of June 2018.

In 2017, Joanna shared that Emma began to demand a younger sibling suddenly, and she felt it as a sign. So they decided to welcome one more member to the Gaines empire.

Chip Gaines announced his son Crew’s birth on his Twitter, where he wrote,

“And then there were 5. The Gaines crew is now 1 stronger! 10 beautiful toes and 10 beautiful fingers all accounted for, and big momma is doing great.”

The mother of 5 says she feels younger when around Crew. And as most of the kids are all grown up, Chip mostly accompanies his parents, and he is frequently featured on their social media handles.
