From running multiple businesses to embracing farm life, HGTV’s beloved power couple, Chip and Joanna Gaines, are inseparable.
Since exchanging vows in May 2003, they have navigated every challenge together, strengthening their bond along the way.
Now, with over two decades of marriage, Chip and Joanna continue to evolve, always looking for new ways to grow.
Recently, Joanna revealed a significant change they’ve made in their relationship, offering a glimpse into how they keep their marriage strong.
For Chip and Joanna Gaines, exploring new hobbies together is just as important as building their Magnolia Home empire.
While they’ve always been dedicated to their work, they’ve recently channeled that same commitment into fitness.
A year after deciding to work out as a team, Joanna shared how their joint gym journey has strengthened their bond.
“There’s really no shortage of us doing things together,” she told Us Weekly. “But what I’ve loved most about this new rhythm of working out together is that it’s new and different for us.
It’s also been interesting to see that the way we show up for each other in our little garage gym is the same way we always have at the office or with a new project.”
At 46, Joanna says she’s “never felt stronger,” and working out alongside Chip has been both rewarding and enjoyable.
“Getting to encourage each other to show up well, to work hard, and to do our best is how we’ve always worked together in business,”
she explained.
“So it’s been fun to see how our relationship remains consistent, no matter what we’re tackling.”
Now that their kids are growing older and becoming more independent, Chip and Joanna find themselves with more time to focus on their personal growth. The couple shares five children: Drake, 20, Ella, 18, Duke, 16, Emmie, 15, and Crew, 6.
“That’s part of why we started working out together,” the Fixer Upper star revealed. But fitness isn’t the only new hobby they’ve embraced.
“We also just started taking dance lessons, which has been both fun and absolutely hilarious for us,”
she added.
“Finding new ways to team up keeps our bond strong, so we’re enjoying what that looks like in this season of life.”
Through these new experiences, Joanna shared that she and Chip have deepened their connection.
“We’ve realized that encouragement goes much further than accountability, and that’s been key—especially when it comes to working out. I don’t think either of us would have stuck with it otherwise.”
That same mindset carries over into their professional lives as well. “At work, it’s the same principle—encouraging each other to keep moving forward, to keep dreaming, and to continue pushing ourselves,” she explained.
