“Fixer Upper” fame Chip and Joanna Gaines may have struggled financially when the couple tied the knot back in 2003. However, their hard work in the last twenty years has earned them a staggering income. The two have also set up a massive home renovation business.
The Gaines couple initially started the business of flipping homes the year they got married. And the same year, Chip and Joanna also opened their first store named Magnolia Homes (previously Magnolia Market), in Waco, Texas. Here are the pair’s main income sources.
Inside Design Duo Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Farmhouse
Chip and Joanna Gaines gave a glimpse of their luxurious farmhouse in a preview of their Fixer Upper: Welcome Home renewal series on Magnolia Network. Their Victorian property with 1,700 sq. ft lies on 40 acres, in Crawford, Texas.
In 2012, the Magnolia founders brought their 1895 farmhouse, they made massive repairs and renovations giving it a classic country charm on Fixer Upper (season first).
After a year and a half, the home was completed; the two-bedroom property transformed into a luxurious home for seven family members.
Chip and Joanna have painted their kitchen with a classic white color that gives a vibe of farmhouse accents. The couple has renovated their backyard field, redesigned their master bedroom, converted their workspace into their infant’s nursery, and renovated bedrooms for their kids.
In an early conversation with Country Living, the Gaineses were asked if they would ever sell their property, replying to the question, Joanna shared that they would never do so as their kids love the farmhouse and the family can’t think of being anywhere else.
“The kids love it. We can’t imagine being anywhere else!” That’s likely why instead of buying a newer, bigger property, they’re adding to this one,” she told the publication.
Chip And Joanna Gaines Net Worth
As per the Celebrity Net Worth, Chip and Joanna have a whopping net worth of $50 million, when combined. From their popular renovation show Fix-Upper, the couple has already become a household name.
Yet, they had a humble start and worked very hard for all these. During a 2020 interview with People Magazine, the HGTV star Joanna shared that she and Chip choose family over popularity. Talking with the publication, Joanna said,
“I remember when we first got married the only money we had was what was in Chip’s pocket.”
Further, she remarked,
“He always had a wad of cash, but we were broke. If I needed to go grocery shopping it’s whatever was in his pocket. That’s how we paid the bills.”
The Gaines Couple Income Source
Chip and Joanna Gaines are making income from their different business lines and partnership with several brands. Not to mention, they primarily earn from their renovation activities. The couple has their own Magnolia Network, which they co-owned with Warner Bros.
In 2013, their renovation program, Fixer Upper, was introduced on HGTV. With its overnight success, the network offered them the opportunity of a lifetime. Although their per-season revenue for the program hasn’t been publicly uncovered, they are supposed to have $30,000 for each renovation.
Their life has completely changed after they began flipping houses and when they got an opportunity at a TV program. As Chip referred to it as “All of this sort of fell into our laps. We were just living our life out here in little bitty Waco.” He also added, “We had dreams and aspirations like most folks, but this has really been something else.”
Now, they are multi-millionaires operating Hearth and Hand with Magnolia, which is an exclusive Target lineup. Likewise, they run a Magnolia Market, which was opened on 16 October 2003, featuring a coffee shop, a furniture shop, and a garden store.
