On November 16, HGTV stars Erin and Ben Napier shared a heartwarming celebration on Instagram, marking a special milestone for their Home Town family member, friend, and former client, Kendall Simoneau.
“Four years ago we gave [Kendall] The Quilt. Two years ago, her old friend Tyler became more than a friend. Today, they became husband and wife. We are so thrilled for you, friend! ❤️ 🎉 (P.S. – Y’all ever fall in love with your husband all over again at a wedding?),” Erin wrote in a heartfelt caption. The post featured a series of photos capturing the joyous wedding day celebration with Kendall and Tyler.
Fans quickly joined in to share their excitement and well wishes. One commented, “I remember her (and the quilt)! So happy for her! What a blessing to find love twice ❤️.” Another added, “Wishing Kendall and Tyler a lifetime of adventures ❤️.”
A third fan expressed their joy, writing, “Awww, that’s wonderful news!! I’m so happy for her and her new hubby, along with everyone else in Laurel. I was watching old episodes of Home Town and saw hers the other day. ❤️ 🙌”
What is ‘The Quilt’ From ‘Home Town’?
Not everyone immediately remembered “The Quilt” from Kendall’s episode of Home Town. When one Instagram user asked about it in Erin Napier’s comments, other fans eagerly filled in the story.
Erin responded with a simple, “Who wants to tell her 🥹,” prompting one fan to recount the touching moment:
“Kendall was grieving the loss of her husband, Kurt. Erin gathered handwritten letters, notes, and cards from Kurt and brought them to a local quiltmaker.
The quiltmaker and her husband carefully stitched the messages onto the quilt squares using thread slightly darker than the cloth, making the words discreet—visible primarily for Kendall’s eyes only. Imagine being able to see those words in your husband’s handwriting. I tear up just thinking about it. 😢”
The fan’s memory was spot on. Kendall, a former employee of the Napiers, and her mother, Cheri, appeared in Season 5, Episode 6 of Home Town (“A Laurel Hug”).
In the episode, Kendall was searching for a home in Laurel after feeling isolated in the country house she had built with her late husband, Kurt.
The Napiers helped her find a new house, which she now plans to share with her new husband, Tyler, as Erin confirmed in the comments.
Erin went above and beyond by collaborating with local quilt-makers Mr. Mike and Miss Cathy to transform Kurt’s handwritten notes into a beautiful quilt.
During the episode’s reveal, both Kendall and her mother were moved to tears. Reflecting on the gesture, Kendall said, “Those letters—I’ve cherished them since the [car] accident, and I think that was just a sweet way to bring Kurt into the home.”
